FAQ's

  • What file format should I give you to print from?

    Always use PDF when possible. We can handle other formats but a print ready PDF will get to print quicker and therefore meet your deadline. Having trouble creating your print ready PDF from Windows products or images? There is a useful scaled down version of a popular convertor program that will convert a file under 10mb to PDF. You can access it by clicking here.

  • What is Bleed?

    Bleed is the term used for ink that extends past the trim edge. More info here.

  • What is the difference between CMYK and RGB?

    CMYK stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. Every colour on your printed material is made by mixing these four inks.

    RGB stands for Red, Green and Blue. These are the colours of light used on a computer screen. They make up the colours on screen when mixed together. More info here.

  • What does resolution and DPI mean?

    DPI stands for ink dots per inch. 300 dots per inch is the standard required for printed material. Anything below 200 dpi will probably not be good enough resolution for print and will looked blurred. More info here.

  • I'm not sure if my artwork is correct, what should I do?

    Don't worry! We're here to help. If you are unsure about anything or need advice, please contact us. We're always happy to help, answer your questions and point you in the right direction.
    If you're not sure about your artwork, email us your artwork when you order and tell us of your concerns. We'll check it, let you know if it's ok and tell you where you've gone wrong if it isn't.

  • How do I know if my images are good enough?

    You can go wrong if you have supplied all the images at a quality of 300dpi when placed at 100%. Depending on the size of your job. If its smaller than A5 then 200dpi should be good enough. For outdoor and large format files 150dpi - 300dpi should be ok.

    Top Tip - If your artwork is created at 100% e.g. A4 set up as A4, zoom in 400% on your screen and if the quality of your image looks good then it will print ok.

  • Do I have to send you my fonts?

    No. You can create outlines or curves of the font used in your chosen design application to rule out the need for fonts. However, if you have created your pdf
    correctly any fonts that you use will be embedded in the pdf.

  • Can I order a reprint of a job I ordered last month?

    Yes, we keep your artwork on our servers for 6 months. We will also email you before we delete the files to see if you need more printed.

  • Can I order Printed Proofs?

    No we don 't offer this as a service due to the volume of jobs we produce daily, but you can order a small quantity. We colour calibrate our printing presses hourly to maintain colour consistency as best we can. However, we can 't guarantee that the small order and your final order placed later will be a perfect colour match.

  • Why don 't the colours of my print match my screen?

    Screen technology varies, so a colour that looks perfect on your laptop will look different on your smartphone, TV or Monitor. Your screen displays colours using light so you can achieve bright vibrant colours that can 't be replicated with ink on a page. As a result, we can 't guarantee a colour match of your screen. However, as long as you have used a CMYK colour space we believe you will be happy when your print arrives.

  • I 've uploaded the wrong file! How do I replace it?

    As long as the printing process hasn 't started yet we will replace the file for you. Please let let us know ASAP, as our production schedule changes by the minute. A new order could potentially be sent to print within 15 minutes of you completing the order. CONTACT US.

  • What happens if my files have not been prepared properly?

    If the files we receive do not meet our requirements (in terms of size, resolution, bleeds, etc.) you will receive what we call a "non-compliance" email reporting the issue encountered. Once you have made the changes, you can send the file again by uploading it in the "Upload Area". The delivery dates will be updated once the new upload is complete.
